The Minnesota Amateur Sports Commission administers two grant programs.
The State of Minnesota appropriated $10 million to the James Metzen Mighty Ducks Grant Program for another round of awards in 2016. The focus is for ice arena improvements to eliminate the use of R-22 refrigerant and improve indoor air quality, but not add new ice sheets.
The MASC has a contract with Hennepin County to administer the Hennepin Youth Sports Program. The program makes awards to local government units to improve youth athletic and recreation facilities and purchase capital equipment. The grants are funded by the 0.15% sales tax surcharge in Hennepin County that enabled the construction of Target Field.
